Irene Guerriero is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Naples and Pontedera, working under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Netti and Prof. Gianni Ciofani, respectively. Her work focuses on precision bioelectronic systems, developing organic electrochemical transistor (OECT)-based platforms integrated with 3D microfluidic models of the human blood–brain barrier. She engineers highly sensitive sensing devices to detect subtle biochemical variations, with applications in neurodegenerative diseases and brain cancer.
She received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Robotics (curriculum Bionanotechnologies) from the University of Genoa in 2025. Her doctoral research was conducted in the "Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine" group at IIT in Genoa, led by Prof. Paolo Decuzzi, where she developed polymeric nano- and microscale systems for local treatment of glioblastoma.
She holds an MSc and a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin.
